- A Smart Port is a little device that you plug in to both 9 pin connectors on
- the back of your Amiga (any model). It provides pass-throughs for the mouse
- and digital joystick port, and also provides you with a 15 pin analog port.
-
- Port switching is hot, you just click the button of the device you want to use
- and it is activated.
-
- The 15 pin port can be split in to two with a Y connector, for two analog sticks
- or two analog sticks and rudders, or 1 analog stick and rudders. I used to
- play Gunship 2000 with analog cyclic, analog collective, and analog rudder
- pedals all the time.
-
- IDD has released NUMEROUS patches to games to allow you to use analog joysticks
- with them.
-
- The analog support is a VERY SMOOTH response through the entire range (0-255).
-
-
- SmartPorts sold for $50 when they were new. I do not know if IDD still makes them.
- They are concentrating on a racing wheel/pedal setup for PCs now.
-
-
-
- I do not use mine any more (got a Pentium) and I am will to sell it to you
- for $30.00
